Behind the builds
BACK STORY
Rover Builds began during lockdown, when we stripped back and converted a VW Crafter from scratch. Once it sold, we moved on to an old Land Rover Defender 110, a three-year rolling project that became our passport to adventure. From the Highlands of Scotland to the beaches of Devon, the green lanes of Wales, and across fifteen countries in Europe, we discovered the freedom of life on the road — having a home on wheels that lets you wander beyond campsites and explore the paths less travelled.
What started as a passion project soon grew into a commitment to thoughtful design and hands-on craftsmanship. We’ve learned the value of clever layouts, durable materials, and solutions that truly work in the real world, not just on paper!
Today, Rover Builds is a small, dedicated team offering everything in-house, from design and joinery to electrics, off-grid systems, and mechanical work. Each vehicle we build is practical, reliable, and full of character, created for people who love the journey as much as the destination.

CO-FOUNDER & BUILD LEAD
Creative and hands-on, Liv is the kind of person who’s either sketching an idea or building one into reality. Her love for Land Rovers, design, and the outdoors naturally evolved into what Rover Builds is today. With a background in art and a passion for woodworking, she brings ideas to life, from early layout sketches to the final handcrafted details that make each build unique.
Outside the workshop, you’ll find Liv exploring Devon’s coastline and green lanes in her 1960 Series II Land Rover, camera in hand & her dog Luna by her side. She loves off-roading, good coffee, consuming copious amounts of baked goods, and spending time with friends!
For Liv, Rover Builds is about more than just vehicles, it’s about community, creativity, and sharing the joy of adventure with like-minded people.

CO-FOUNDER
Curious by nature, Zac’s the kind of person who’s always taking things apart just to see how they work. That curiosity eventually led him into the world of tech, electrics, and off-grid systems and now, he brings that same problem-solving mindset to every Rover Build. From solar setups to smart power management, he makes sure each vehicle runs seamlessly and reliably wherever it goes.
Outside the workshop, Zac splits his time between climbing, travelling, tending to gardens, & making pizza. He loves connecting with people and learning from new experiences, whether it’s a conversation over a campfire or a shared adventure somewhere off the map.
